Frequently asked questions

How booking, verification, insurance, escrow, fees, and proof-of-delivery work on MovingDirt.com — for contractors booking capacity and carriers hauling loads.

What is MovingDirt.com?

MovingDirt.com is a marketplace that connects construction contractors with insurance- and DOT-verified carriers hauling bulk and aggregate freight — dirt, sand, gravel, stone, base, fill, riprap, millings, and construction materials. It is operated by Freight Broker Group LLC, a licensed property freight broker (USDOT #4413464, MC #1734098).

How does booking a dump truck work?

Search verified carriers by equipment type, service area, and availability; book and fund the job through Freight Broker Group LLC; the carrier hauls the load and submits proof of delivery; funds are then released to the carrier. Your funds are held until delivery is confirmed, so a no-show never costs you the money.

How are carriers verified?

Every carrier passes FMCSA operating-authority and safety screening, has its insurance independently cross-checked against FMCSA records (not just a scanned certificate), and is phone-verified by a real person before being listed. Carriers also submit driver CDL details and unit information. A carrier earns the Verified badge only when authority, active BIPD insurance, and at least one verified driver are all confirmed.

What insurance do carriers need?

Carriers provide proof of BIPD (auto liability) and cargo insurance via a certificate of insurance. MovingDirt.com verifies the policy and coverage amounts and tracks expiration dates, flagging coverage expiring within 30 days so it can be renewed before it lapses.

How are funds protected?

Contractor funds are held by Freight Broker Group LLC and released to the carrier only after daily proof-of-delivery is submitted and reviewed. This protects contractors from no-shows and guarantees carriers get paid for completed work.

What does it cost?

Listing a truck is free for carriers. Each contractor quote includes a transparent 10% platform fee that covers verification, held-funds administration, and broker liability.

What equipment types are available?

Dump trucks including tandem, tri-axle, and quad-axle dumps, transfer and super dumps, articulated dumps, straight trucks, and end-dump and belly-dump (bottom-dump) trailers.

What areas does MovingDirt.com serve?

MovingDirt.com operates as a nationwide marketplace. Carriers can join from anywhere in the United States, and contractors book capacity in their local service areas.

Can I contact a carrier directly to skip the platform?

No. Once an agreement is entered through MovingDirt.com, contractors and carriers agree not to circumvent the platform to book that relationship directly. This anti-circumvention term is standard brokerage practice and is set out in the legal terms.

How do carriers get paid?

After completing a haul, the carrier submits proof of delivery. Once reviewed, the held funds are released — no chasing invoices.

What's the difference between a broker and a bona fide agent?

Under FMCSA rules (49 CFR 371.2), a broker arranges transportation for compensation, while a bona fide agent acts on behalf of a single carrier under a preexisting agreement. MovingDirt.com's brokerage is performed by the licensed broker Freight Broker Group LLC. Referral partners who are motor carriers must hold their own broker authority to refer business.
